BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
AUCKLAND DEMONSTRATION. (By Telegraph—Picsb Association.) . Auckland, May 12. \ large demonstration by supporters of tho Bible-in-schools movement was held in tho Town Hall to-night. The Mayor presided, and aiiong tho speakers, was Miss Butler, headmistress of the-Girls-' Grammar School, who advocated the restoration of tho Bible to the schools on account of its literary value, historic value and value as a character-builder. "Mis 3 Butler said the Br.ble placed before the child's mind the highest ideals possible. Tho E«v. AY. A. Hays spoke of tho which ho said Imd followed tlio introduction.of tho Bible, into schools ;iii Australia. Canon-Garland also spoke. Mr. William Collins, a public school teacher, supported (he movement, and claimed that in doing so he represented tt large tin nber of oilier Icachers.
