The expert appointed by tho Government to examine tho Mount Lyell Companies' mines, reports that they are well and'skilfully worked, comparing favourably with the best in his experience. Every regard, he says, is paid to tho safety of the employees, and tho charges of unsafety in the mines are unfounded. Last year's disasters, in the experts opinion, must bo regarded as abnormal mishaps. ,
