ENTERTAINMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL. Despite the inclemency of the weather, the Theatre Royal was crowded on Saturday night, when the week's bright programme was repeated for the last time. To-nighi a complete change of bill will be made, when the Brennan-Fuller management will introduce for the first time at the Theatre Royal Miss Lillie Moore, Hie talented Australian comedienne and dancer in her latent song and dance successes. Miss Jtoarc is a, sister to tho popular young actress, Jliss Carrie Moore. Mr. Percy Dalian, the English rag-timo expert, will also apj>ear. De Le.i and Orma will appeal' in new tongs and sketches, and the Serenaders, Tinder the direction of Mr. Hugh Huxham, will present still another brighl programme, making Hie seventh week of a Most successful season.
HIS MAJESTY'S TILE ARE. This evening, at His Majesty's Theatre, the management of Pullers' Pictures will present a new programme of high-class films. NEW THEATRE. '"A Gipsy's Hate" is the "feature" drama of to-day's change of programme at the New Theatre continuous pictures. The principal character is a beautiful Gipsy girl who refuses to marry the mail whom her father wishes her to. The girl meets a - theatrical manager and elopes with him to Paris, where she causes ;i sensation in a "fire dance", at a musichall. She, however, meets with a tragic end. The minor items will include "The Smuggler's Revenge," "A Canine Sher- | lock Holmes," "Mystery of an Astorian Prince," and several comedies and-scenic studies. "A COURT INTRIGUE." It is recognised among photo-play lovers that tho Nordisk Company's exclusive productions, from the viewpoint of acting, stago production, and plot hold a premier position. "A Court Intrigue," which the management of West's Pictures at tho King's will screen this evening, is one of the Nordisk masterpieces. The story centres in Ossaya, a State in the Balkans, and deals with life in Royal circles of that State. A princo wishes to marry a commoner, but an unscrupulous countess desires that ho shall marry her daughter. A series of startling escapades a nil sensntiontd thrills hold the attention. The filial scene shows the unmasking and death of the countess. A. lrigli-flass programme will support the "star" film, and S'ignor Trudas King's Lyric Orchestra will play incidental music. EMPRESS THEATRE, An entire change of programme will bo screened at the Empress Theatre continuous pictures to-da.v and to-night. Tho chief attraction will to the A.B. Company's latest dramatic sensation, "A Welcome Intruder," a powerful dramatic character study with a .stirring plot'. Tho scenes are stated to bo realistic, and tho acting realistic*. Mr. \V. M. .Francis, Iho world's champion cripple athlete, who is at present in Wellington, will be shown in a iilm "Swimming Hie Bristol Channel.''' Mr. Francis performed the remarkable feat of swimming 'from Ponarth to Newport, a distance of fifteen miles, in four hours, notwithstanding the fact that one of his legs h withered as a result of niL accident in childhood. There will also lie shown "Jaipur" (India), "The Day That is Dead" (Edison), "Boss of t,lw Katy Mino" (S. and A. drama), "All Hail to the King" (A.B. comcd.v), and a number of others. SUNDAY CONCERT. A sacred concert arranged by the Wellington City Band was held in His Majesty's Theatre last night, and was fairly well attended in spite of the wintry weather. An excellent programme of wellselected instrumental and musical items was put forward, the introduction being Suppe's brilliant overture, _ "Poet and Peasant." Other concerted items were tho hymn, "Lead, Kindly light," arranged by Lieut. Herd, and played by snecial request, tho march "Vacowinna" (Birmingham), the fantasia "Souvenir do jtusse" (\V. I'iminer), and T. 13. Bulch's quickstep, "Pile Arms." The soloists were Mr. .T. Calvert, an English, tenor, who sang "Lend Me Your Aid" (Gounod), "The Rosary" (Nevin), and "Invietus" (Huhn), and Mr. R. S. Allwriglit, baritone, who sang "The Watchman" (Squire) and "Thou Art Passing tlenco" (Sullivan). The direction of the music was in tho hands of Lieut. T. Herd, and the accompaniments wcro played by Mr. R. C. Hollow. A silver coin collection was taken up in aid of the band funds. SIIOBTTS' PICTURES. In tho new programme to be screened at Shortls' Continuous Picture Theatre to-day will be starred an elaboratelymounted drama- entitled "Tigris." which will be supported by a number of high- I class films of various subjects.
