A new Roman Catholic Cliurcll is to l>o erected in Foatherston, and tlio section of land lias, it is reported, been donated by some well-known local residents. Tho monthlv meeting of the l'eatherston County Council was held on Friday, when there were present: Messrs. A. JJ. M'Leod (chairman), J. Martin (treasurer), \. Ilamiay, A. Matthews, D. Riddiford, Q. Donald, F. Perry, and W. J. Kix. The county fund account was reported as a debit of .£1678 3s. 2d., and accounts totalling X 1335 10s. sd. were passed for payment.—lt was mentioned that tlio new valuation of the county showed an aggregate increase of 34 per cent. 011 tho previous valuation—Tho levy payable to tho Wairawpa Hospital and Charitablo Aid Board for the current year will bo ,£1059 7s Gd., as against .£994 16s. <kl. last year.— A general rate of i of a penny 111 tho JCI on the capital value will bo struck for tho ensuing year.
