CORPORATION YEAR BOOK.

THE MAYOR'S VIEWS. A species of "inquire within upon everything" is the Mayor's view of what the Wellington City Council's year . book should be. During a general discussion on municipal matters with a representative of The Dominion yesterday, Mr. J. P. Luke brought up the matter of the Corporation Year Book. This handy guide to the Wellington municipality was capr able, he said, of being considerably enlarged and made infinitely more valuable as a book of reference. "For instance," he said, "one item which might with advantage be incorporated in the Year Book, would be the annual Teports of the municipal departments—in digest form, of course. We ought also include our balance-sheet, principal items of expenditure, salaries, ctc. In short, the book ought to be so compiled that any citizen desiring to obtain a comprehensive grasp of the city's affairs could do so by investing in a copy of' the Year Book. As years went on the back copies would bo of value for reference purposes."
