SPEECH UNDER DIFFICULTIES.
CARLISTS AND THE PRETENDER. London, April 29. A number of Carlists were travelling from Spain to the Sacred Well at Lourdes, in France. The Pretender, Don Jaime, was prevented from going with the party owing to fears of trouble. He informed his supporters that he would await them on the ra : lway line at a particular spot, and when the train arrived at that place _ tho alarm ' cord was pulled and the train stopped. Other Carlists clambered into tie carriages, and some mounted the engine and prevented the driver from re-starting while the Pretender delivered an address-. Afterwards the journey was resumed.— "Sydney Sun." '
