HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.
MR. SMITH ELECTED CHAIRMAN. A meeting- of the Wellington Hospital Committee was held yesterday afternoon. The following were present: The Rev. W. A. Evans, the Her. 11. Van Staveren, Dr. M'lvenzie, and Messrs; Hi ( Baldwin, H. Freeman, W. Galloway, B. It. Gardener, D. M'Laren, F. T. Moore, C. Nash, D. Robertson, and J. Smith. The first matter dealt with was the election of a chairman. The Rev. H. Van Staveren and Messrs. J. Robertson and ,T. Smith wero nominated, but the two first-named withdrew, and Mr. J. Smith was accordingly declared elected. Tho following is flue fortnightly return to.April 28 of the Wellington? Hospital inpatients (tho figures for tho same period last year are given in parentheses):— Admitted, 159 (100); discharged, 110 (121) ; still in hospital, 283 (217). A communication was received from the Registrar of Nurses embodying a scjieme for tho insurance of nurses. Some members of the committee pointed oyt that, they were not very clear on tho point, as to who would pay tho premiums, if the scheme were adopted. After discussion, tho matter was referred to tho Financo Committee. The following committees wero appointed:—House and Finance: The Revs. H. Van Staveren. and W. A. Evans, and Messrs. H. Baldwin, G. Nash, D. M'Laren, D. Robertson, and J. Smith. Otaki Sanatorium : Messrs. H. Freeman, W. Galloway, D. M'Laren, tho Rev. W. A. Evans, Messrs. B. Gardener,. F. T.' Moore, J. Smith, and Dr. M'Kenzie..
