CIVIL LIST, ' (Before Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M.) WAS THERE A GUARANTEE? In tlio Magistrate's Court yesterday I'hipps Williams, merchant, carrying on business in Wellington as "The Community Distributing Company," sued John Wright, insurance agent, Wellington, for iS lis. 3d., as being the amount of liability incurred by one Walter l'obar, whoso liabilities (within limit) defendant was said to have guaranteed. Jlv. H. P. Von liaast appeared for the plaintiff, and Sir. Machcll lor tho defendant. Decision was reserved.

Jameson to pay N.Z. Electrical Pittings anil Accessories Co., JCI ss. 6d. by May 22; and Henry Matthew Slowell to pay D.1.C., 18s. Cd. by May 22. POLICE BUSINESS. (Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) George Maxwell Kelly pleaded guilty to a charge of his having stolen brushes, comb, etc., valued at 17s. 6d., from Joseph John Armstrong. He was renimuled for sentence till to-day. Thomas Robertson was remanded t'll to-day on a charge of his having deserted from the steamer Tyrone in February. John Pryse was fined ,£3 for having broken a prohibition order. For insobriety, Michael Perry M'Plierson was fined .£2, William Mack <£1, and John Kiuley 10s.
