Early next week will sco tho breaking , up of 'tho isolation camp that was established between, Waimalte and Oliacwai early ini March last by tho Health Departuivnt, in an effort to copo with th« . serious outbreak of tj plioid fever that oci currod at tho Native settlement of To Ahun'hu. Tho last Native patient was discharged during tho present week, and tln>. prolongation of tho hospital camp was duo to tho fact that one ot tho European nurses contracted the disease. On tho whole tho health of tho Natives in tho north is now good, Although recently there was on outbreak of diphtheria in tho Utakura Valley, and ORaihau nnd Thoreke. During the past ccuplo of woeks a big gathering, at which over TOO Natives were present, was held at Kohukohu, in connection with the -.mveiling uf a, monument to a Maori chirftain. Tho hip; assembly occasioned some concern to 'the wliito settlers, but on the lloalth Department's inspector visiting tho scene ho found that tho Natives had arranged for perfect hygienic surrounding?, a state of affairs tlmt was in marked contrast t« former gatherings of the kind, whicl proved conducive to the spread of variow epidemic?.
