SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for variable and strong westerly winds, with a southerly tendency. A further fall in tho barometer 13 pTobablo for a westerly lowpressure aica, duo to pass in the south in, about 36 hours. Cold, unsettled, and showery weather may bo expected in all parts of tho country. Southerly ■ winds havo predominated, with changeable and showery, weather, especially in the northern- nnd southernmost districts, but aai improvement has taken placo on tho East Coast. Conditions aro very unsettled, and tho present position is most unusual, with a low barometer in tho south and bolow normal everywhere, D. O. BATES. Meteorological Office, Wellington, May 8, 1513.
