FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY

AN ASSOCIATION FORMED, Particulars of fho meeting lielrl at. Hawera, on Saturday ill connection with the formation of the Farmers' Co-opera-I ivo Organisation Society nf New Zealand, Ltd., tlio objects of which are to purchase farmers' 'requisites and distribute their produce, are .supplied by the interim secretary, Mr. R. W. Baker. Fifty delegates were present, representing luglewood, Bntapiko, Kaponga, Opunake, Otakeho, Kapuni, Hawera; Lowgarth, Waverley, Patea, Norman by, Tokaora; Midliirst, Mntapu, Alton. Ararata. Eltham, and tlio Bee-keepers' Association. Sir. A. E. Death (Hawera) was voted to the chair. . Mr. G. H. Buckoridge, the society's organiser, reported on the work already done, and briefly outlined the successes attained by similar societies started in New Zealand and other parts of tho world. Oil tlio motion of Mr. J. B. Corrigan, 'Hawera, seconded by Mr. Dickie, Waverley, it was decided thit a society to bo called the Fanners' Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., ho formed, with capital of .£500,000. All tlie delegates present were appointed provisional directors, with power to add to tho number. '. The following were appointed an executive committee: —Messrs. G. H. Buckeridgo (Eltham), Diekio (Waverley), Bollard (Knponga), James Barklay (Hawera), :Alf. Svines (Patea), A. E. Death (Hawera),'A. E. Grey (Lowgarth), .1. H. Corrigan (Hawera), and J. B. Simpson (Maketjiwa). The matter of drawing up the prospectus, memorandum, and articles of association as generally outlined in the provisional prospectus us submitted to tho meeting was left in the hands of tho ixocutive committee to submit to a subsequent meeting of the provisional directors to 1)3 called at a later date. A hearty vote of thanks fo Mr. Biickeridge for the amount of work ho had already done was carried. At a subsequent meeting, the executive committee appointed Sir. G. H. Buckeridge chairman. Messrs. Halliwell and Seller (Hawera) were the society's solicitors, and Mr. R. W. Baker interim secretary.
