FIRST ELECTRIC SHIP.
CONTROL BY A SWITCH. A new epoch' in ship propulsion took placo in March by the launch at Middlesbrough of the T.viicuioiuil, the first seagoing vessel to bo electrically propelled. According to tho "Glasgow Herald," two Diesel c,n engines of 300 h.h.p. are used to generate, tho electricity which the propeller. The system is identified with the name of Mr. Henry A. Mavor, of Gfafgow. (o whom the problem was submitted.
The T.vnemoiint, which will be controlled with perfect ease through -electrio switches, has n deadweight of 2100 tons, is 250 ft. long, -121 ft. broad, and 18ft. deep.
