A telegram dispatched' on March 20 Jrom !7iiingtons Hiver (India), describing the operations of the punitive force scni to the Naga Hills to punish the natives for a head-hunting raid, slates that the village of Chougyi has been captured and destroyed. The village of Longmieng was not punished, but was visited by a political officor. with sixty riiles. On March 19 sixty rifles from Chongyi prooeeded to, meet the party from R>ng-. raicug 'nt Nyang, where villages were destroyed, the enemy losing sixty killed and many wounded. Twenty guns and much livo stock wero captured. The expedition lost one sepoy wounded. All the villages which were to be punished have now been dealt with. Tho .Health of the expedition was good.
