Mr, Pelletier explained that the Brilitrli Postmaster-General was not ready to lay a new Government-owned TransAtlantic cable, hence Canada had decided to arrango a wireless scrvico of its own. A ratio ot transmission of four hundred letters per minute has been guaranteed by the Wireless Company, Code messages would be charged nl cightpenco per word; plain language messages fourpence; press ordinary messnge! twopenco a word. Tito syndicate's head offico would bo in Montreal, from where the messages could be placed on the Pacific cablo direct Id Australia and New Zealand, tho Canadian Railway Board controlling the rates. Tho Board would sanction a reduction if practicable. No subsidy would be' given. Mr. Pelletier added that tho I'acifio Cable Board would (soon find it necessary to lay a new Trans-Atlantic cable.
