OATH OF TRAM MEN.
■PERJURY ■ PROCEEDINGS BEGUN. (By telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, Ma;v 6. An echo of a' recent' tram accident, which occurred On April 6, and in' which a young woman lost her life, was heard at the Magistrate's Court to-day, when the tuotorman and conductor of the tranlcar were charged with having committed perjury at the inquest. Eugene Allan was charged with having, on April 7, at Christchurch, committed per jury in-the testimony which ho gavo on oath at the inquest touching the death of Evelyn Edith Coombes, by falsely swearing that' when Miss Coombes fell the car was three poles from the stopping-place William Horgaa was charged with having similarly committed perjury by falsely swearing that when, ho stopped the car he was two poles distant from tho stopping-jriace. Accused wero committed for trial, both .Reserving their defence. . ..
