Tho insurance liability at the close of the.year (alter allowing lor reinsurance) amounted to .£2:14,454, as against .£213,730 at the close of the previous year. This liability is' classified as follows:—Farm and non-hazardous risks: G7G policies amounting to ,£150,090' (making an averago oi" approximately ,£222). Dairy factory risks: IGS policies (less reinsurance) amounting to .£BO,7GG (making an average of approximately 490). Reinsurances: 7 policies (averaging ,£513), .£3592. The total policies number 848, bringing tho general average to approximately «£27G, being less than the previous year, «C29(>. No fire losses occurred during the year. The liquid assets- at tho end of the financial year (after making provision for nil general liabilities) amounted to ,£5030 Is. Id., being ,£IO9O Bs. Id. in advance of the previous year. The'premium notes in force at tho close of the year amounteel to *£11,828 Is. 9d., being an increase of ,£I4BG Bs. -Id., making a. total of general assets over general liabilities of -£10,851 12s. lid. During tho year the rates on sccond-class dairy factory risks wero increased from 15s. per cent, to 20s. per cent., and on third-class dairy factory risks from 20s. per cent, to 235. per cent. The balance-sheet showed receipts amounting to ,£1787 Gs. Id. The expenditure amounted to .£137:! Bs. 10d., thus leaving a balance of .frill 17s. 3d. oil the right side. Speaking at tlio annual meeting of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society, tho president', Mr. E. Eagle, ju'n., inado the following referenco to Sit Walter Buchanan:—"l should like to refer to the honour which has been conferred upon our respected and esteemed fellow- member, and representative of tho Wairarapa district in Parliament, Sit Walter C. Buchanan. Th.<? committee cabled the society's congratulations to him, and I feel sure you will readily endorse'that action. None of us can forget, or desiro to do to, the wonderful work he lias done in agriculture generally in tho Wairarapa, and throughout the Domiuion, and the influence ho has had oil the inception, and past and present history of this society."
