WAIRARAPA AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. , There was an attendance of about 10 members at the annual meeting of the Wmirarapa ami. East Coast I', ami A. Society, which was held 011 Saturday. The cliair .was occupied by Mr. I!. jun. In the cotir.se of his address, the president remarked tiiut the membership of the association had increased, and taking the resignations .into account, there were 50 new members between 1910 and the present time. Donations had also increased. .Mr. Eagl.e congratulated members upon having had -another successful year. The show was another record, especially' in the cattle classes, which were acknowledged 011 all sides to be the best ever brought together lin this Dominion. In spite of the wretched weather, there was.asplendid attendance, showing that the society is still as popular as ever with the public. The covered sheep pens were greatly appreciated by exhibitors, and thiis, said Mr. Eagle, is one of the best" investments (he society lias ever made, as without them the sheep exhibits would very soon, in his opinion, have been a back number.

deferring to general matters, the president said: Although tho current year lias not proved nearly so good as Inst,' as far as prices for dairy produce are "concerned, the extra quantity exported will, I think, more than make up for any shortage in prices for the exports in both butter and cheese, for the season up to March 31 constitutes a record for the Dominion. The butter and cheese exports have verv nearly reached four million pounds. iV the period, in question, butter nnd cheese exports together show an increase of 212,286cwt.,.- valued at £844,331, the respective increases being: Butter, •lljTSGcwt., valued at .£282,243; cheese, ;70,5G0cwt., valued at ,£562,091. There have been serious complaints from buyers in England during the/present season with regard (0 the quality of a lot of the New Zealand cheese shipped Home, but I am glad to say that the Wairarapa factories have not been very serious offenders : n this respect, but thero is still room for some improvement in our cheese, anil I would strongly' nrge upon every dairy-farmer to take all possible care of liis milk, before delivering it to the factory, as the quality of the cheese we export is a.thinjj wo have to guard very jealously. AVo liave again him considerable trouble to get proper insulated trucks for the conveyance of our cheese to the port cf shipment. This is a matter that affects every farmer in the Wairarapa, arid I think the dairy companies and alsj the P. and A. societies should combine and urgo the Railway Department to provide proper insulated trucks for the consignment of dtir cheese and butter to the port of shipment, find it is very disheartening to farmers managers after taking every care, and making a good article to have it ruined through being" exposed to all sorts of climatic conditions between here arid Wellington. Officers were elected as under:—President, Mr. E. Eagle, jun. (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Henry Booth arid A. Clark; General Committee, Messrs. \V. W. Bicknell, I*. V. Caverhill, C. Campbell, J. W. Card, C. R. Cundy, A. C. Feast, J. C. Harp, J. Monaghan, H. Morison, C. Morgan, J. G. M'Donald, J. G. Oates, C. L. Reynolds, W. H. Robieson, A. G. Tver, F. J; White (Greytown), and G. E. Yule; treasurer, Mr. Or. W. Dcllcr; auditor, Mr. J. Moncrieff.
