INSPECTION OF STALLIONS.
ACTIVITY IN THE COMMONWEALTH As an outcome of the recent conference of Ministers of Agriculture, held in flobart in February last, the chief veterinary officers of four of the Australian States (New South Wales 1 , Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania) met in conference a few weeks ago, to endeavour to arrive at somo uniform system throughout tho States in connection with the examination and certification of stallions for Government certificates. Tho other two Stales, South Australia and Western Australia, were unable to send delegates to the conference, but the former intimated that it would fall in, as far as possible, with the decisions arrived at. Tho whole question was thoroughly discussed, and as a result, the following resolutions were carried:—(l) That uniformity of examination and certification of stallions can be attained throughout the States of tho Commonwealth. '2) That early legislation should be enacted to provide that uncertificated horses should not be: allowed to travel or stand for publio stud purposes. (3) That in the interests of tho schcmo for examination and certification'of stallions, it is highly desirable that '.stud books of the recognised breeds of horses should be established in each Stato forthwith.
