FIRST MEETING.OF NEW BODY. Tho first meeting of thb newly-elected Hospital'and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday, for the purpose of electing a chairman of the full board, and advisory committees for the various departments of the board's authority. Tho proceedings were somewhat protracted, owing to some discussion which arose on certainmatters (reported olsewhere). 1 Oil the motion of Mr. D. M'Laren, tho Rev. W. A. Evans was unanimously elected to the position of chairman. Vnii Slavrren. and Mes«rs. D. Itol'rrlson. G. Nash. 1?. J?.. Gardiner, It. Baldwin, J. Smith, D. M'Laren, W. Freeman, W. Galloway, and F. T. Moore. Miss Richmond and Mrs M'Laren tied ■with tho Rev. TT. Van Stavoren on the vote (for eleventh place), but elected (o withdraw in order to avoid a. further ■ballot. The first meeting of the Hospital Committee takes place on Thursday next, at 2.?>f) p.m., when the chairman will be appointed. Charitable Aid Committee (which meets at, 2 p.m. to-day to elect its chairman).— Mrs. T). M'Tiaren. Miss Richmond. Dr. : Elizabeth Platt.,-Mills, file Kev. .1. Iv. Elliott, and Mo"rs. F. Castle.
