« ; SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for a temporary improvement in the weather. A redistribution of pressure will probably telle place, the barometer rising temporarily in tho north and falling slowly for a short timo in the south. Cold and changeable weather, with moderate to strong end more variable winds rullne in the- immediate future. Low pressure has continued in tho north for an unusual time; strong southerly winds and cold and showery weather liavo prevailed, but tho winds and weather liavo moderated somewhat to-day In many parts of tho country, D. 0. Tho wind dropped'in the evening. FoiiCing, Jiay s.—Showery morning; fine afternoon; very cold muht. Shannon, May s.—Cold and dull, but dry. Otaki, May s.—The weather yesterday and to-day had a wintry touch, and at intervals, heavy ruin fell. Featherston, May s.—Tho southerly wind continnce, with occasional rain 'squalls. The weather shows indications of improvement. Greytown, May s.—Very cold and wintry weather. Masterton, May .s—The weather is boisterous to-day, but shows signs of abating.
