(From Our Own Correspondent.) Masterton, May i. The election of a representative of tho Alfredton riding on the Masterton County Council to fill the vacahcy caused by tho resignation of Mr. Alexander Murray took.place yesterday and resulted in tho return of Mr. Arthur J. Patchett, who defeated Mr. Leonard Houlbrooke by 95 'votes to 60.
