In connection with the recent police raid on the Women's Social and Political Union's headquarters, in Kingswoy, seven women and a man named Clayton, a consulting analyst, are charged with conspiring with Mrs. I'ankhur.st and others to damage property. In a remarkable letter from Clayton to Annie Kenny, it was suggested that Clayton should experiment, with a view to ascertaining the right proportions of chemical?. Oilier documents referred to the burning oi' timbrryards and cotton mills. Tho accused were remanded till Monday. Despite an official warning, the paper "The Suffragette," iu an attenuated form, is being sold. Urew, the manager of the Publishing Printim; Company, has been arrested. He lias been released on bail. In connection with the charges of conspiring ''to damago property, Clayton described himself as a chemist and author. Inspector Hawkins testified that he found in Kenny's flat a bcok entitled "Bristol Riots, 1831." Within iho book were four loose documents, apparently in Clayton's writing.. Two bore Clayton's namo and address. Tho first was headed with various suggestions, explaining a scheme for simultaneously smashing street fire-alarms, and giving a list of these, also minutely describing tho Post Office, Telegraphs', and Engineers' Departments, the Telephone Headquarters, the Paymaster-General's Office, and Somerset House, suggesting methods of attack. Tho other documents related to the timber yards, and tho fourth suggested plans for setting firo to the headquarters of the National Health Insurance Commission.
