NEW STATE MINE.
INSPECTION BY THE MINISTER.. Very good weather was experienced during tlie Hon. W. Eraser's visit to tho West Coast last week, but tho Ministerial party had a rough passage when crossing Cook Strait to Wellington on Saturday night. Wliilo at Greymoulh, Mr. Fraser inspected the now State mino and .was pliiased with the prospects in front of it, as largo quantities of coal wcro disclosed. No date has yet been fixed for tho official, opening as tho centre brake rail, which is being built on tho steep incline by which the coal must come to market, has not yet been ooinpleted. This important portion of tho railway will not be finished for about .three mouths or so. The Minister may then; in company 'with his Excellency tho Governor, visit tho district for the official opening. Ho also Intends to visit the West Coast in January next, wlieli 'the Wesllnnd goldfields jubilee will bo celebrated at llokitika.
