ENDURANCE OF SHEEP
. SNOWED IN FOR SEVEN WEEKS. As a result of a very severe snowstorm in Scotland, t two black-faced sheep got covered over in a deep snowdrift on January 11 on the grazing of Auchuafree, in the upper reaches of tho Almond Valley, about five miles beyond Newton Bridge, at the head of (ho Sma 1 Glen. These two sheep, states tho "Scotsman," were missed from the first, and though diligently searched for thev were not discovered "until, . on February 27, tliey emerged themselves out of the snowdrift ■which had become considerably reduced, by that time by the fresh weather which had prevailed for some time previous. They had been, entombed for the long period of seven weeks, all but one day. They were in very good condition at the beginning of their long imprisonment, but wero in a very emaciated stato when tlioy regained their freedom. By careful attention since then tlieso two sheep nro not only still alive, but tiro now thriving remarkably well.
