OTAKI NOTES.
Tho monthly meeting of the Otaki Town Board took place on Thursday, when tho following correspondence was dealt with: —From Horowhenua County Council, asking to ho allowed to supervise dog-tax collecting, and ranging tor tho board.— Agreed to, fees, etc., to be returaed to tho board. From same, stating they had no power to prevent rubbish being deposited on Eiver Bank Eoad, that thoroughfare being under the jurisdiction of the Eoad Board—Received. From same, agreeing to pay half ?ost of cleaning the Mangapouri Creek.—Received. From G. H. Harper,' asking for Beach Eoad to be legalised.—Held over. From Mr. J. Robertson, M.P., stating that he had waited on t!ie Minister for Jnstico and endeavoured to secure a site for the Town Board office, but had failed.—Decided to point out to Mr. Robertson that he had adopted a wrong course of action, ho having been asked to introduce a denization to the Minister, and not to w(iit on him personally. From Miramar Borough Council, requesting the board to join them in asking the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board for an explanation relative to increased rates.— Agreed to. From Wellington Hospital Board, asking the bo.-vrd to forward the amount of levy due at tho end of each quarter.—Held over. From Mr. E. J. Stanley, stating that ho had searched for tho title in connection with the market reserve, but had failed to find a trace of it.—Received. Commissioners Bright and D'Othi woro appointed a financo committee.
