SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Present indications a.ro for hiuli south'easterly winds. Heavy rain js probablo generally with rivers rising, especially on tho eastern coasts of both islands. Very cold and'stormy weather fa probablo generally, and tho barometer is now due to rise fast and' probably very high everywhere. The barometer rose fast in tho south during the night, but.has fallen lower in the north to-day. Strong south-westerly winds have prevailed over tho North Island, and south-eastorlie3 strong to gale in the south. Wet and wintry weather has been, experienced generally. D. C. BATES.
