UNIDENTIFIED B&DY. FINGER PRINTS GIVE A CLUE. (By Tcleirapi..—Preia Association.) Auckland, April 30. On fho afternoon of Sunday week tlio body of a mar. of apparently '35 years of aye ivas found behind the Y.M.C.A. Buildings, in Welles-ley Street East. It was revealed by the post-mortem that the man had ditil of lysol poisoning, which was corroborated by finding a bottle containing lysol beside the boav. The only identification marks .about the bodv and clothing consisted of tho initial "J'' tattoed bn tlio left arm, tho initial "II" on tho shirt, and a letter of recommendation made out in tlio initials "J.M." Tlio 1191 ml police methods of identification wore followed, and it is now reported that a finger impression taken from the hand of deceased agrees with those of a. man known to the police as James'' Moore. Moore has a. wife and two children, who arc believed to be in Wanganui. COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER'S SUICIDE. ■Dunedin, April 30. Evidence given at the inquest on the body of Reginald Irving .lohnston, who ciunmilted suicide at (he Gladstone Hotel yesterday, disclosed ! that certificates of membership of tho United Commercial Travellers' Association of Australasia had b?cn found anumg deccased's effects, and disclosed tho further fact that ho travelled for T. Elliott and Co., of Birmingham. A letter showed that deceased's private address was Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. He seemed to bo about 3(i or 37 years of age, and there was nothing in his possession 'to inilicnte why he committed the act. The coroner returned a verdict, of suicide, there lieiug no evidence to show decca-scd's state of mind at the time. Certain correspondence indicated that deceased was married. FOREIGN MATTER IN TRACHEA. Dunedin, April 30. An inquest was held to-day concerning tho death of Mrs. Hannah Knight, aged 53 years, who was found dead at her residence, Oxford Street, yesterday. Tho medical evidence showed that tho eauso of death was tho inhalation into the trachea of ..vomit. It was an almost identical case with that of a man named Wilson, who died on Sunday. Tho coroner returned u verdict of "death from ' suffocation," the case being the accidental lodgment of vomit in tho trachca'. MARRIED WOMAN'S SUICIDE. Chrlstchurch, April 30. A married woman named Mary Jano Thomas, twenty-eight years of age, committed suicide at her residence, St. Martins, this morning. Sho had been despondent lately. This morning a neighbour went to tho house after the his. band left for work, but found the doors locked. The husband was communicatod with and he broke into the house and found that his wifo had hanged herself to tho h.mdlo of tho bedroom door. A verdict was returned of suicide whilst of unsound mind. EX-MAYOR'S DEATH. Chrislchurch. April 30. Mr. Colin Campbell, a well-known resident of Lytieiton, of which ho had been Mayor, died suddenly this evening, presumably of heart dii-case.
