HUTT FLOWER SHOW.
The Hntt Valley Horticultural Society held on autumn show in the Town Hall, Lower Hutt, yesterday afternoon, and, aitiiough the season is not ono thnt eli. flowers to show to their best advantage always, the exhibition wns extremely creditable. It is ■ several years since the society held a public autumn show, and . its enterprise in tho cause of horticulture dosenes every encouragement, enough at any rato to mako it a permanent "fixture for tho autumn. A very fine stand of flowering and foliage plants was shown by Mr. 11. Poole, for whicli he secured an R..JI.S. silver medal. He also secured 1 trophies for a collection of cut flowers and of ferns. Mr. Harman and Mr. A. J. Ilobbs felit in an admirablo exhibit of chrysanthemums, grown for cut blooms only. _ A mil her exhibitor of chrysanthemums, in which were to be seen some fine rfpcciinens, was Mr. A. J. Shailcr,- of Palmerstun. Miss Cooper, who judged''the children's decorated tables, considered liif-ir work exceptionally good. The vegetable display was small, but uli-,0 vcr'v creditable. 11. Poole secured first prize of Ins exhibit: of a specimen foliage plant and collection of six colons, while Miss Hobbs was similarly placed for her collection of twelve cnctiis dahlias. In the open class for chrysanthemums R Poin'ton wis awarded two first and one second, and F. Wcsllniry two firsts and one second. F. Westlmry secured Mr I. Waugli's trophy tor his collection of JO cut blooms in the samo class. ■ hi the amateur class ior chrysanthemums K. I'oinlon was nwarded three fhsi« while J. CiTlllo secured tho first nrlM for his collection of six blooms. Children's Tables-Miss . Dorothy "U'Domild nwarded first pi'izo ill tins class, and Miss Hobbs was second.
