FULL TERMS OF SETTLEMENT. ; Recommendations have been filed by the Council of Conciliation in the industrial dispute between the Union . Steam _ Ship Company and the AYellingtou tho Australasian Institute of Marine Engineers, Tho principal-■recommendations are as follow:— Wages (011 tho ba»is of tho nominal horse-power of each steamer): (a) Between SD and 100 n.h.j].—Chief, .£22 per month; second, XI" 305.; third, JJ!S 10s. (b) Between 109 and 150 li.li.p.—A'23, .£l7 10s., .11r. 10 s. (f) Between 150 and 200 n.h.p.—• J!24, .CI!), JMG. (d) Between 200 and 250 n.h.p.—.C2G, JC2O. XIT, iitl. (e) Between 250 mid 350 n.h.p.-.e28, .£2O. .£l7, ,€l4. (f) Between 350 and 450 n.h.p.—.£3o, JI2I, ,fclS, JClf). (g) Between -150 and GOO n.h.p. —-JC32, J.'22. JCIB. .£ls. (h) Over GOO u.h.p. —JSM, -£22, .£lB, 4!15. Wages for all under fourth engineers are to be ,£l2 per month. Hours of wprlc An eight-hour day is stipulated with provision for overtime (except for chief engineers) at the rate of 2h. fid. per hour for other than certain specified calls. Holidays: After twelve months' continuous service, chief engineers shall receivo twenty-one days' leave of absence, and olhor engineers shall receive fourteen days' leave. Other provisions deal with ship keeping, Sundays, and holidays, timo bft', travelling, steamers out of commission, Retting ready for soa, victualling allowance, transfer, sick pay, and the like, It is only on rare occasions—this is tho first instance on record in Wellington— that complete recommendations are filed with the Clerk of Awards. Generally, incomplete recommendations are filed and--, subsequently made an award by tho Court. In tliis case the Clerk of Awards (Mr, E. Stockcr) will advise the parties that the recommendations have boon.filed 'and that unless objection is mudo Ihey will become im nwnrd within -n month. {■Should objection be made the matter will be referred,to the Court.. If otherwise, llie parties will bo- notified within la. month that the recommendations hara become an award.
