VICE-REGAL TOUR.
HEARTY WELCOME AT .THAMES, ■ (By Telegraph,—Press AsoooUtlon.) Thames, April 28. His, Excellcncy the Governor, accompanied by the Countess of Liverpool, arrived at the Thames by special irain this afternoon. Tlioy were met bv representatives of Ihe local bodies, and presented with an address of welcome oil behalf of tile Borough and County Councils. Tho vice-regal parly wero also welcomed by tin; Mayor und representatives of ilho Nativo race. His Excellency expressed pleasure at the cordiality ol' the welcome accorded ill the centre of a large Rolcl-mining industry, and ho also expressed gratification at 'thn many signs of progress. His Excellency was afterwards, taken for a motor ride through the district, and was entertained at a luncheon given by the local bodies. The High School Cadets provided a guard o£ honour. The Governor's party left at G. 15 p.m. for Auckland, amidst hearty cheers.
