BRITIS DIES IN' GAOL. Alfred. Britist who was recently sentenced to six months' imprisonment for sly grog-selling, died in tho Terrace Gaol yesterday. Britis hud for a long time been consumptive. An inquest will ho held at 9 o'clock, this morning.
DEATH ON ULIMAROA. At 9 o'clock this morning Dr. M'Arthuv will hold an inquiry into tho circuinstanecs of tho death (which occurred yesterday) of Harry Williams, -who was employed as n winchman on tho tflimaroa, Williams's death has been ascribed (o heart failure.
EXPIRED ON ESPLANADE. Jolm Hambro Kimmins, a boatman, died suddenly on Thorndon Esplanade at midday"; Mr. Kimmins had been in ■ tho Navy, and was latterly in tho employ of tho Union Steam Ship Co. Ho was a widower, and ho leaves two sons, aged 10 and 12 years. An inquest will bo hold at 9 o'clock this morning.
MISHAP ON ULIMAROA. Edward Mnndy, a resident of Island Baj-, met with an accident on tho steamer Ulimaroa yesterday. He was at tho tirno | in the hold, doing unloading work, and some boxes are said to liavo fallen out of a sling and struck him on tho back. Ho is at present in tho Hospital. r CHILD'S DEATH AND INQUEST. ' The City Coroner (Dr. A. M'Artlvur, S.M.) hdld an inquest yesterday concerning the death of a child named Coral May Broughton (six months of age), who died on Wednesday last. , According to tho medical ovidcnce, the child had suffered from bronchial pneumonia, but tho immediate cause of tho death was nn injury to the head.' The Coroner's verdict was in accordance with this testimony, and ho mentioned flint no blauio was attachable to anyone, the child having been thoroughly well cared for.\ HOLT ON TO THE LINE. WHOLESALE SMASH. (By Telegraph.—Press 'Association.) Hamilton, April 25. A serious accident occurred at u level crossing at Horotiu this morning, resulting in James Kelsall, a farmer residing at Horotiu, being badly injured. Kelsall was taking milk to a creamery in a dra.V, and, when near tho crossing, his horse became restive, presumably being startled by tho whistlo of an approaching drain. Jt bolted on to tho lino right in front of tho engine. There was a terrific crash, and driver, horse, and tho dray and its contents were next moment in n tangle beneath, tho train. Kelsall was dragged out unconscious, and placed upon the train, and conveyed to Hamilton Hospital. Tho horse was killed and tho ejirt smashed to matchwood.
MOTOR CIUSIIES INTO FENCE. • Auckland, April 25. While Percy Cornwall was making a trial spin on ti 100 h.p. motor-car at Alexandra Park in co.npany with a boy named Willian ITinkley, one tiro burst, and tho motdr crashed into the fence, which was demolished for about twenty yards. Cornwall wos slightly cut. and the boy had four ribs froctutcd.- 'lhe latter was removed to the, hospital.
