At the Old Bailey, Lord Alfred Douglas was bound over in tho sum of .£SOO for libelling Colonel Custanoo, his father-in-law. Hie contention arose over tho marriage settlement. Lord Douglas promised not to repeat tho libel. A NATIONAL THEATRE. London, April 24. During a discussion in tho Houso of Commons, Mr. J. Ellis Griffith, UnderSecretary to tho Ifomo Office, said tho Government was not inclined to assist a national theatre until one was established, when a subsidy might bo granted. REFERENDUM PROPOSALS. London, Ajiril 24. Mr. nolman, Attvaioy-Gonernl of Now South Wales, declined an invitation to discuss the present Commonwealth referendum position. Ho declared that tho city Carlton Club speech on Federal and Stato relations had no connection with tho referendum question, and that it did not touch the questions involved therein.
