Tho Governor again comes ixi Cambridgo next Friday to witness tho field operations of the Auckland Brigade of Mounted Rifles, now in camp at Cambridge.—Press Association.

Mr. James Garnctt, Mayor of Hastings, was taken suddenly ill on Thursday night and was removed to a private hospital suffering from appendicitis and peritonitis. An operation was found imperative at an early hour yesterday morning. Latest information is that lie is doing as well as can bo expcctcd.

Mr. Nelsoni Isaacs, of tho Wellington Technical College, lias been. appointed art and crafts instructor to the Dunedin School of Art. Prior 'to his departure tor tho south, ho was entertained at tea at the Burlington Rooms by the art masters and his fellow art students. At this informal little function Mr. Isaacs was presented by Mr. J."Ellis, on behalf of tho masters and students with a handsome walking stick as a token of their esteem, and tho wish was expressed that his future would bo bright and prosperous. Mr. Isaacs suitably responded. 1

Mr. T. C.'Dawson, of Dawson and Maudsley, Ltd., left by tlho Tahiti yesterday on a six weeks' holiday trip to the South Sea Islands.
