ONSLOW WATER SUPPLY.

MEETING AT NGAIO. ' . A ivcll-attended meeting of the ratepayers of the Ngaio ward of tho Onslow Borough was held at Ngaio last evening when the Mayor (Mr. F. Holdsworth) explained in detail the proposals for tho installation of a water, supply system for the-borough. In connection with these proposals the ratepayers will be asked to state at a poll, to be held on April 30, whether they approve of raising a loan of .£lß,ooo'for tho waterworks, or, in the alternative, a loan of ,£IOOO to repay sums already expended in acquiring a catchment area. As? Mr. Holdsworth explained at his meeting at Khandallah the previous evening, the catchment area, lias been obtained and paid for. Tho .£IB,OOO asked for is to provide for head-works and for tho reticulation of the borough. With a 25-foot wall in the dam a little over half a million gallons of water could bo stored. The estimate of cost included- ,E9!I0 for the purchase of 400 meters-, which would be either sold outright or leased to householders.

A number of questions were asked, and in the general discussion I hat followed the meeting was favourable to tho proposals. Oil. the motion of Mr. Scrimgeour, seconded by Mr. L. A. Brojrue. tlio meeting expressed by resolution its endorsement of the scheme.
