In the Houso of Lords, Viscount Aldwyn, criticising the Collection of Taxes Bill, said that though ho was not in accord with tariff reform, lie was strongly of opinion that tho present system of taxation was imperfect, and becoming les,s fair ovcry year. The timo must soon ■come when, some, sort of indirect taxes must be imposed to enablo the country to bear tho increasing expenditure.
