The Empire Trade Commission has concluded its sittings in, Sydney,. ; Mr. Trefle, Minister for Agriculture, gave evidence that the State Savings Bank provided ,£1,000,000 per annum for settlement purposes, and had already received applications for ,£1,200,000. He was confident it would place .£3,000,000 during the current year in assisting bona-fide saitlers. Tho banks tvoto 'very tight, and - people were not met in any shape or form to the extent they should bo for tho development of the country.. • The- president of the, Harbour Trust outlined proposals for. harbour improvements, providing for 40,000 ft. of wharf frontage, at a cost-of 46,500,000. The work; would take ten years to complete. At the .'present -rate -of ' development! it fully wanted that time. ' ,
