The Governor's Speech indicated that the revenue ■was buoyant. Tho Speech further mentioned that the report of tho Royal Commission which had inquired into tho North Mount Lyell disaster had completely exonerated tho Mining 'Department and tho company from tho charges of criminal neglect. The ex-Premier, Mr. J. W. Evans, was elected Speaker, and Mr. J. Best, Chairman of Committees.
