Mr. W. Evans, M.P., presided. I Mr. Holman, who' spoko for thirty minutes, explained the Constitution, and compared it with tho American and Canadian. Ho insisted on the importance of tho sovereign powers of tho States, whiich now offered great opportunities to tho highest political talents. When (he club entertained Mr. Watt, Victorian Pifem jar, they woul|Q find that he also was a Btrong advocate of State rights. , Among those present at the luncheon were: Mr. Coghlan (Agent-General for New South Wales) and Captain Mudrhead Collins (privato i secretary ' to the High Commissioner f6r Australia). The guests, mainly connected with commercial and financial interests, numbered 200.
