The Tramway Union, after giving full consideration to the finding of the January Labour Congress, has dceided to endorse (ho proposed amendments to the Arbitration Act and Workers' Compensation Act. ■ The union has also decided to send three representatives to the July Labour Conference. CRITICISM 'OF A PLAY. Dunedin, April' 23. Prior to the opening of the play, "The Monk and the Woman," at Timaru, the local paiiters inserted in their news columns, by way of advertisement, matter calculated to affect tho company's business in tjliat town. As a result of legal opinion given to the Neiv Zealand representative of Messrs. George Marlow, Mr. Grant has been instructed by his principals in Sydney to demand a public apology from both the Timaru newspapers, failing which a writ for dpinages is to issue. One metropolitan. paper may also bo involved.
