.Toso E. Capablanca, of Cuba, won the American National Chess Tournament recently. Frank J. Marshall, the United States champion, stood second. Marshall, strangely enough, was not beaten once in the tournament, while Capablanca sulfered n defeat at the'hands of Charles Jaffc, of Now York. Several drawn games, however, brought Marshall's average below dial; of Iho Vinncr.
