THE BLUE BIRD. Maurice Maeterlinck's charming dream piny, "Tlio Blue Bird," was repealed 'at the Opera House, yesterday, l.olh flic matinee and evening 'performances by ■Mr. J. C. Williamson's Company bein;,' well attended. The presentation of "The Blue Bird" shows unstinted attention to detail, and tlio company's interpretation uf the nuthur's conception of "The Blue Bird" is quite excellent. "Tlio Blue Bird" will be repeated this evening, and on Saturday afternoon the second matinee performance of tlio season will bo given. THEATRE ROYAL. Tiio vaudevillo bill at the Theatre Royal this week is bright in variety, and provides an excellent evening's cntertain'inent. Tlio Seremiders. a clever company .of singers and jokers, are in high favour 1 , whitn the items supplied by the Lessos, tlio C'lardys, Murphy, Frank Hawthorne, and the Harmonious Huxhanis form an enjoyable complement to the tir;t part of the programme, .which is filled by the Serenaders. The first appernnce of the Seven Heraldos is announced for Monday evening., ■ HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "On tlio Steps of tlio Throne," tlic star film of this week's programme at His Majesty's Theatre, is a masterpiece- by tlio Pnsquali. Company. The story develops in an absorbing manner a deep laid court intrigue for the assassination of the heir-presumptive to the throne of Silastlria., and the coronation of liis double, a common fellow, in order to accomplish the ambitions of the Regent. The supporting items aro of a high standaril, tlio film showing the finish of the Oxford-Cambridge boat race being particularly good. ■1 KING'S THEATRE. The star film at the. King's Theatre this •week is a sensational photo-romance entitled "Tlio "Weaker' Vessel." ' THE NEW THEATRE.The usual change of programme to-day at the ,Nc;v Theatre continuous pictures will be featured by a modern drama entitled "Tho Cracksman's Daughter." This is a story of a burglar's daughter, whoso father is shot while attempting a burglary. His accomplice flies from the conntry, but warns the burglar's daughter that if sho marries anyone he!will kill her'. Sho subsequently meets a handsome young man of position, who weds her. Thb tale then proceeds to show how far the burglar's accomplice was able to make good, his threat. The minor subjects include: "Tho Latent Spark," "The Temptress," "Market of Kabylia," and coiiiedies. " THE EMPRESS THEATRE. "The' Executioner's Secret," described as a brilliantly-staged lengthy historic drama I will figure nt the head of to-day's new programme of the impress Theatre Continuous Pictures'. The principals in the plot are the villainous King John, Prince Godfrey (a prisoner in the tower), 'Pitta, the executioner, nnd his blind daughter. Titta is ordered by the King to burn the eyes of the prince, but Titta's daughter aids the prisoner to escape. The King disbelieves the .statement that the prince is dead, and .commands that Titta be punished, but the king is thwarted and the prince steps to the throne. The remaining items include: "The Miser." which is reported to be a skilful study from life by the Lubin Company, "A Hero's Reward," a Knlem comedy, "Sho Must Elope," a Lubin cornedv, and a number of others. ' : SHORTTS' PICTURES. An excellent programme is beingscreened fit Shortts' Picture Theatre this week. ■ Tho star fiimf, of.the bill include a sensational 'Western drama entitled "Geromino's.Last Raid," and an unusually fine domestic dranuu "On tJia .Threshold." The supporting items arc also good.

TOWN HALL. ■ Tho Royal Wellington Choral Society's new conductor, Mr. Christian Hellemann, will give an organ recital in the Town Ha]l to-night at S o'clock, and will be assisted by . Madame Carmen Pinschof. Prior to coming to Wellington Mr. Hellehiann was regarded as one of the finest organists and pianists in Australia. He was rimner-np. for. the position of city organist in-Sydney, and was organist to the Royal Sydney Philharmonic Society. Madame J Pinschof mill sing (amongst, other numbers! Sullivan's ."Lost Chord" and Kevin's "The Rosary," both with organ accompaniment. The doors will open at 7.15, and the priccs of admission will be: Circle and front stalls, Is.; back stalls, Gd.
