For apples anil pears prices aro well' maintained. Australian grapes aro olf tho market, indeed there is a practical cessation of shipments of Australian fruits generally. New Zealand grapes are realising good prices.

Vegetables.—Cabbages, cauliflowers, and celery continue in.excellent demand. Carrots and parsnips aro making good prices and are wanted.

Tliero is no change to note in the local wheat market, offerings now being scarce. What is offering is chiefly Tuscan, for which alono there is less demand than for- Hunters or Pearl. Tho latter variety is scarce and dear in' South Canterbury, as solid straw Tuscan is now largely grown iu that district. Though flour has risen IDs. per ton thero has, so far, been no corresponding advancc in wheat. Millers are, however, now well stocked, and probably there will lie no further move until they come on tho market again. The only chango in oato is that "A" grade Oartona havo readied 2s. 3d. at handy stations. Very few oats arc offering, and in'view of the fact that there wilt he a considered shortage in the Southland crop this year (aG so' much grain has not yet ripened and what has been saved will bo of only moderate quality) holders aro likely to maintain a firm attitude. The chaff market is without change, and potatoes aro still selling at about .€4, though some buyers are ottering u little less.
