MR. LYSNAR'S CHALLENGE.
WEST- OF ENGLAND STORAGE,
Interviewed in reference to the statements made by Mr.. D. Lysnar at Napier .as to the refrigerated , storage space, at Bristol, and published yesterday in n. Press Associatim telegram, Mr. W. G. Foster, chairman of the Associated Meat Companies of the North Island, said:— "The only question! between Mr. Lysnar and myself is the Telativo-accuracy of our figures as to to-day's frozen meat storage capacity at Bristol. Tho I gave (80,000' carcasses) aro those cabled to me in reply to my inquiries. I am not interested, nor'concerned, in the controversy of-Bristol versus London, except in-so far ai the agitation for Bristol may. afford an excuse for any delay in tho carrying out of tho improvements at Lomlon. which havo been promised bv the Port of London Authority.. Obviouslv, I have no. need (o meet Mr. Lysnar ou the public platform."
Apropos of the.above, it. may be stated rhat in consequenco of statements attributed to Mr. Lysnar at Invorcargill, to the effect that Avonmouth nnd- Bristol now had accommodation -in refrigerating stores for carcasses, Mr. Foster cabled for information, nnd received the following reply:—"The original capacitv was 22,000. In IPO 1 23,000 added, and ]«4 month .15,000, making SO,OOO in all." In tho course of the Pre.,s Association telegram published yesterday, Mr. Ly-i----nar said:f-"What I stated at Invercargill about Bristol's storage capacity was absolutely correct. Mr. Foster's data was not so. Councillor 11. W*. Twiggs, chairman of the Port of Bristol, in a. letter to me, slated in round figures that tho capacity at the present moment is equivalent to \OO,OUO carcasses, and no difficultv is anticipated in doubling or quadrupling this as soon us it can be shown that additions are- needed. There aro'two other stores, each with a. capacity of 50,000 find a fourth owned by the Port now used for other purposes. 1 purpose to deal with Mr. Foster's statement: in public addresses at I'ahiatua and Hastings, and challenge him to attend the meetings and publicly debate the questions. Wo want the best results. If Mr. Foster (.iin. show what wo iire striving for is not; I lie bust, 1 a?k him to let ns know in a manly way ou tho, public platform what ii best. .If lie cannot suggest anything. !:ellt;r. I call upon him either to'assist the producers or leave us alone."
