PASTORAL EVENT AT WANGANUI
Keen interest is being taken by pastoralists in tho important sale of stud Hereford stock, whicn is to be held in Wanga-. nui on Thursday and I'riday nest, April 2'Jr and 25. There will tlien be disposed of by public auction, and absolutely without reserve,'tho famous Bushy. Park herd of Hereford cattle, owned by Mr. Frank Moore. It is not necessary to describa in detail ...the.Bushy .Park lierd. The position they-hold in stud slock, not only in Now Zealand, but in Australia, and further afield still, is known to every cattle man. They are magnificent cattle, and breeders uro afforded an opportunity of improving their herds by tho introduction of fresh blood. It has been said that Mr. Frank Moore claims that tho Bushy Park stud Herei'ords are unrivalled in tho Australasian colonies for evenness of type, constitution, early maturity, and grand, rich, dark colour. When the achievements of tho Bushy Park cattle at the principal'pastoral and agricultural shows of Australasia uro studied, it enn be seen that .Air. Moore has ample justification for his opinion. It is only that held by tho competent judges of pure-bred stock at this end of the world.. It should bo observed, moreover, that these cattle, besides winning trophies, have been notably successful in tlie freezing and shopbullock classes, thus proving their eminent utility. It was recently remarked by tho "I'astoral Review" that a general survey of the live-stock countries of tho world endorses the opinio of those who believe that a beef fnmino is likely enough. In tho United Slates, in particular, there is a serious shortage, while in Australia and even Now Zealand a scarcity provails in lesser degree. The big prices ruling for beef-cattle and hides aro therefore causing far-sighted stockowners to consider bcef-cattlo remarkably good property. In Now Zealand, Eome land-owners are reducing, their sheep per acre, and making it up with beef-cattle. They realise that the pastures aro improved by running cattle with sheep. In Australia tho practicp of combining sheep and cattlo is finding decided favour with many graziers.
Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., Napier, announce in this issue the sale of an 857-acre block of land, situated U0 miles from Dannevirke. Particulars appear in tho announcement.
Messrs. A. H. Atkinson and Co., Feilding, have two farms for sale. Ono of these farms of 980 acres is situated four miles from a good rising town, and railway station. Tho other farm'of 11)0 acres is situated two miles fiom TVilding. Full particulars may bo had from tho agents.
