Thero has been a great rush to enrol; already over 50,000 applications have been received. IN WEST AUSTRALIA, v Perth, April 19. The Hon. W. C. Angwin, Honorary Minister; has declared that one of the irst measures to be dealt with during the coming session will be a Bill to abolish the Legislative. Council. ' N.S.W. FINANCIAL POSITION. "A MINISTERIAL STATEMENT. (Reo. April 21, 0.20 a.m.) ■ : ' Sydney, April 20. Mr. Griffith, the New South Wales minister for Works, in a speech dealing jwith the Public Works loan, said the taxpayers paid nothing towards the interest ion the borrowed money, and made a largo profit.. In reply; to a question whether the financial position was usually good, Mr. Griffith said: "I wish it was a trading concern,-.and I owned it."
