The 15th nnmial meeting of tho Victoria College Debuting Society was held recently. Mr. W. ,T. M'Eldowney presided. Ihu iinniial report stated that during" the last year the various prizes nil'ercd for competition were won as follow :-Tho Plunket medal. Mr. 0. C. Mnzengarb; I lie union prize, Mr. 0. G. (I. Watson. The new speaker's prize was divided between Messrs. ,t. F. Stevenson and It. Quilliam. ihc report, regrets that in the intcr-'Var-sity debating competition the college was not successful in retaining the Joynt bhield, the Otago University team winning. The balance-sheet showed a small credit balance. The officers elected for the ensuing year were:-Pntron, his Excellency the Governor; president, Professor G. W. von Zedlitz; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. K. Caddick and G. G. G. Watson; secretary, Mr. G. A. L. Treadwelli treasurer, Mr. A. B. Sicvwright; committee, Misses M. T.. Nicholls and E. North, and Messrs. P. B. Broad and C. Strackj auditor, Mr. A. Fair.
