Tho monthly meeting of the Teachers' Institute was held last evening, Mr C Bary presiding. . Intimation was received that the annual meeting of British and overseas teachers is to take place on July 19 in the Caxton Hall, Westminster. „r T H. followin S m °t:on was moved bv Miss Myers :-"a) That more physical instructresses bo appointed. (2) That no girl receive physical instruction unless she has been medically inspected."' ' Miss Helyer, head mistress of the Mount Cook Girls' School, sejonded the motionMr. Watson, head master of the Willis btreet School, was entirely opposed to the ■ appointment of any more instructors. After further discussion, tho motion was put to.tho meeting in two parts, both being carried, Mr. Ballachey moved, and Mr. Porkinsjl' seconded: "That the executive of tho N Z.T.I, be urged to add to its scheme of salaries_ schedules of payments to bo made to teachers absent on sick leave, similar to those in the new Civil Service regulations; also that it bo asked to provide for leave of absence on furlough, as in the Civil Service regulations." The motion was carried unanimously.
