The machine was not used in starting races, but on Saturday it will be given its first official trial m the big event of tho day. ' Appin (The Possible-Miss Bcckwith) arrived at Ellerslio from the south on Saturday, and will fulfil his Avondalo Steeplechase engagement to-day. . On Xuesday.with J. Koach in tho saddle, ho was sent over the obstacles at Ellerslio m company with Icel (A. J. MTlynu), when both fenced without mishap. The crack jockey, B.
