A novel departure is to be niado in lieu of the usual toast and song programme, common to most smoke-con-certs, and it is one which should, bo appreciated by those having nn interest' in. the city's affairs. The executive is ask- , ing several of the aspirants for civic hpn- ; .mrs to give brief speeches, embodying ' their views on questions affecting the ' sports hodios of the city.
