TERRITORIAL ORGY.

OFFENDERS' FINED. BRIGADE'S REPUTATION GONE. (By Telejraph.-Prese Association.) » Dannevirke, April 17. 'The sequel to Tuesday night's invasion of Dannevirke by Territorials took place at Oringi Camp yesterday afternoon, when fifteen of those who were arrested on arrival of the train were fined £1 each for drunkenness. The battalion was drawn np and addressed by Colonel Tate, who said that thoso responsible for the affair of Tuesday night, had disgraced themselves and the whole camp. There had been many unseemly doings, and though the behaviour of some had been satisfactory, others had acted disgustingly. Ho had not thought when he had given leavo that young New Zealanders would have acted as they had dons. The only course open to him'was to cancel all leavo in future. The brigade's reputation had gone, and.it had toalono for it. . There was no cavilling at the decision. Corporal Percy. Bagnuli, of Masterton, has been admitted to Dannevirke Hospital suffering from -pneumonia.

.' .REPORT . EXAGGERATED. ~.' . Masterton, April 17. In connection with the alleged misconduct 'at Dannevirke of Territorials attending the Oringi Camp the "Daily Times" has received tho following telegram from Colonel Tate, Officer Commanding Camp:—"Report much exaggerated. Six cases of drunkenness, one window broken on train, no molesting of women. There was certainly good denl of noise. Stringent measures taken to prevent a recurrence." . THE OTHER SIDE. Dannevirke, April 17. . Regarding the telegram from Masterton and Colonel Tate's statement that the report was mu'ch exaggerated, the information on which .the original message was based was obtained on the personal observation of flic sender of the message, railway officials, and the police, the railwaymen being warned to bo careful of the facts on account of the serious nature of the charges. The molesting of women was never alleged; the message stated that women were subjected to gross remarks,, and this is borne out, by a Territorial officer and by townspeople who saw for themselves. The language was shocking. The affair is the subject of general adverse comment here.
